Realistically the girl wasn't interested in him and they weren't even in a relationship, so it's fair game since she already made it clear she wasn't interested, imo MC is just a simp, who didn't really make any effort other than just talking, which was also provided by his friend. He should have been more active in pursuing her till she made it clear she didn't like him rather than just passively waiting
