I would like the author to know, that 'being the smartest in school' does not mean you're the most intelligent. As you stated here, it's basically rote memorisation of facts, that's all you need to succeed at school. Memorise then regurgitate on the day of your exam. I know many people who were considered to be among the top in my school whom are now bums working blue collar jobs or white collar jobs where they're glorified assistants and coffee porters. No, what truly defines intelligence is breaking out of the system. Becoming the boss. Do you think Einstein was truly intelligent? Did he not in the end have no say over his invention that was used to kill millions of people? I think a useful fool might be more apt of a monicker for someone like that, same for Tesla. Tesla was undboutedly brighter than Edison, yet who succeeded and who faded into obscurity as a bitter old man with nothing but pigeons for company? No. True intelligence isn't even academic. It's social. If you're socially intelligent, not even the most academically intelligent person can get close to you.
