Was that where he met that mirror beast or something? Able to copy everything even flaws lol, that was connected to Mordred.
What a strange question to ask. I wonder why she said next time someone asks to say no? Perhaps she knew about the mirror beast and couldn't even kill it herself. So him leaving the island alive and others knowing will make higher ranks question his true skills? If that's true then she's protecting him?
I think I finally understand how the awakened cores work. Normal awakened can only have one core and its maximum capacity is 1000. When a dormant core reaches 1000, it stops absorbing soul shards until awakening happens. When you awaken, the enhancement benefits you get depends on the number of soul shards you have. You get the maximum benefit when you have the whole 1000. Also when you awaken, the awakening process consumes the entire number of soul shards you have and leaves you with zero. The maximum capacity of an awakened(literal) soul core is also 1000; so they get the maximum enhancement benefit when they become masters if they have 1000 soul cores. It goes on like this till the divine rank (I don't know if there is another level above the divine level). So my theory is that, for people with divine level aspects like Sunny and Nephis; they get new cores anytime all of their available cores are saturated. For example if Nephis has two cores and both of them become saturated, a new soul core would be created so she can keep collecting soul shards. This would keep happening until she gets the maximum number of soul cores possible which is seven (I don't know if there would be an eighth). Another thing is that with each rank up (dormant-awakened-ascended-- and so on), the capacity (strength) of would increase. This is the reason Sunny now gets one shadow fragment for killing awakened beasts instead of two (his core is now awakened and syncs with the awakened beast core), the only reason he got two before was because the awakened beast core was stronger than his, so the shadow fragments he got doubled in amount. So when Nephis awakens, the value of the fragments she has should reduce by half, i.e. if she had 4000 before, the value would become 2000 in her awakened soul core (1000 soul shards would be consumed for awakening, this halving would only occur after 1000 soul shards are consumed for awakening). Also since the cores have been created already, they would remain. So when Sunny becomes a master, 1000 shadow fragments would be consumed for the process before the halving occurs. I think the Sanctuary's alter gives you soul essence/shadow fragments according to your rank (you always get one per coin though). So basically, the creation of a new core is in response to the necessity of a new one after all existing ones are saturated. Anyway, these are my thoughts and um.. sorry for the long read. Thank you.
Nice chapter. Kind of reminds me of being sent to the principals office, not really knowing if it is good or bad. But in Sunnys case it was good and he got a free meal for it. That last question threw him for a loop though, having to tell the truth. And her response got his brain going into overdrive not knowing why to say no.
