I was hesitant to read this NGL after reading in the synopsis he would be a martial emperor at the start, I was thinking where is the challenge as one of the appeals of these works is scheming the downfall of the protagonist before killing them, if he was too strong then it takes away from part of the fun.
Ngl I've always hated when cultivation novels name the later stages like that (martial king/emperor). All the stages before while generic, are named that as a direct connections to how you cultivate that realm. It just seems lazy and breaks the immersion, you know? I've always loved the concept of cultivation novels mainly because of the of the way they cultivate to immortality, im finding it hard to explain my reasoning but it just never rubbed me the right way when novels/stories do that you know? The mysticism and such aspects for the dao/tao/enlightenment just always brings out the inner chunni in me lol.
