I am so tired of all the Maxi hate in these comments. You all have to remember that maxi doesnât know that Riftan tried to meet her at the port when she left for Nornui. The last thing he said to her was that he wouldnât wait for her if she left. She sent letters for years that she had no idea of he was receiving and then when they finally reunited all he did was ignore her or fight with her. She gave up everything to protect him so that he wouldnât lose his knighthood and all he did was guilt trip her to try to get her to stay and be rude to her. She canât read his mind and she suffered decades of emotional and physical abuse and still has a hard time believing that someone could love her. Of course she is gonna be confused and hurt when he doesnât communicate with her. And she tried multiple times to reach out to him and he didnât respond. Everytime maxi responds to that with anger, which is justified, yâal get in these comments and say that she should be more mature and communicate better as if sheâs had some example of that. If Riftan is allowed to be angry and petty than so is she. Stop thinking that she has to bottle up her emotions and be the mature one. They both need to learn communication. And maybe bad communication is the first step at least sheâs not lying and saying sheâs fine all the time.
sometimes it's really hard to read the comments here. there seems to be a lot of internalized misogyny. I think everyone is overly harsh on Maxi and forget she is having normal reactions to things she is experiencing in the moment. she doesn't have the foresight or knowledge we the readers have, so how can she know of Riftans struggles and thoughts. The author is just showing that they are both flawed characters who don't know how to communicate because they both had a childhood that left them with trauma. she didnt have anyone to talk with until Rifatn. Remember??!!! and the same goes for Riftan. and all these incidents between the two of them? they are all PLOT points, used to pace the story, build up the angst of their reunion, and add additional drama. so her getting drunk is meant to sure nerves, and him being cold to her in the morning shows his pent up frustration. and how they both reacted after with Aren, is true to their characters so far. but I often feel that a lot of the readers only pick on Maxi's mistakes and thoughts and is not fair to her. she has grown quite a bit, and is a funny relatable character that doesn't deserve the constant criticism.
The past day or two was a strange time with the Maxi hater returning to torment those who like this book and Maxi. Attacking people in disgusting ways. Then to turn around and say donât be a women hater about any other women in the book. It seemed like the Maxi hater, hated the whole book another then Riftan. Super glad the Maxi hater is banned.
I find the disgruntled commenters rather puritanical in their (unfair) treatment of MaxiâŚwhich is kinda hypocritical considering the thirst they all have for the salacious bits. If not for blindingly handsome plot armor, Riftan is seriously aggravating. Maxi is reacting exactly as she should to this tempestuous man child. A woman can only take so much.
Maxi's frustration is totally justified. From all outward appearances Riftan goes to considerable effort to keep Maxi at distance. He ignores her at best and often has publicly rejected and reprimanded her to the point that several of the mages have advised her to leave him. His behavior is hurtful and humiliating. The only times he has given her positive attention is when she is in mortal peril or getting attention from someone he considers a rival. By all appearances, He doesn't want her, but he doesn't want anyone else to have her either. While it might be superficially disloyal, Maxi is demanding that people treat her with respect and dignity -a very healthy thing. The question is if Riftan can take a break from his own pity party long enough to see that.
Two for two, Miss Sooji. 𤊠Utterly thrilled to be reading this in translation - I think I've said this a thousand times - I don't care! It's really like reading it all over again! Love love love it! â¤ď¸ Super looking forward to the next 137 chapters. Some lemon for your tequila, Riftan my boy? 𤣠Attagirl, Maxi! đđ𼰠well-matched, well matched. Mooooooooooore! đ
If Riftan is so worried about Maxi wanting to be alone with another man he should prove to her that he is the best man around . Not because of his leadership and military accomplishments but because how he treats her. Although he did risk losing everything when he beat Croyso, he needs to show he cares in other ways.
