This chapter proofs how much Riftan wants to rely on someone, however the lack of affection and self-hatred makes him see only negative aspects, that no one remembers or want him 😭

Painful to come back to a place filled with terrible memories (except one) to find that everyone you cared for either doesn’t remember or has moved on

This is the saddest so far on Riftan's POV . His only "nice memory" of Maxi shattered, his stepfather with a new family . He must have felt as if he didn't belong anywhere Poor baby!

Poor Riftan... yet again you do not understand the feelings you feel or why you feel them... I am certain that had you actually seen your step father he would have embraced you with open arms... you can't know unless you try though... you can run head first into a monster lair or den but yet you can't find the bravery or courage to love and be loved... very inwards and backwards my boy, very inward and backwards... maybe even upside down too 🙃 😆 🤣 😂

Aww poor sweet Riftan, you know you just wanted to check on that one final connection to your childhood (besides Maxi... 😉). It's okay to feel off that your step-dad moved on, but you're right... you shouldn't resent him for it. You may have visited but you moved on too, in. your own way. Perhaps not enough.

after reading this chapter I felt so lonely, so down in the dumps... it took me a while before commenting... these ups and downs in emotions reminds me my teenage life... riftan is really living in a rollercoaster of emotions and feelings... to road to adulthood is so long and winding

What an emotional rollercoaster. Riftan finally meets Maxi but didn't go well. Unbeknownst to him the reasons why she acted the way she did. Then going to his old house to find his father and his family living there. This was a tough chapter to read.

i think he always wanted to belong somewhere i assume he wanted to form a family with Maxi cause he couldn't have one, their lost of their unborn baby must have greatly hurt him

So emotional 😭😭 And reading this while knowing Maxi s background and the reasons for her behaviour 💘💘💔 And we all know there are more bad things coming, like the sad wedding because of all the misunderstandings

There is no need to feel lonely Riftan ,everyone has moved on including yourself ,I think you should show urself to step father and embrace him and as for maxi ,there's a reason for her reactions only time will tell

awwww.. if only riftan knew why maxi had those sullen and fearful eyes🥺.. im so glad how it turned out for riftans step father. he is a good man💕

my heart swell.for Riftan. He is in so much pain for a hige part of.his life. no.wonder he was like thay in the first book.

Riftan respects his stepfather. He had raised him despite knowing he is not his blood and also cared for his mother.

It would be interesting to see the little boy become RD Knight in the future... Riftan probably should've waited for his stepfather to let him see him today... maybe the stepfather would have welcomed him as his son, and tell him that is his brother... probably he wouldn't feel so empty.. He probably has this conflicting feelings because he really hasn't talked to his stepfather and make peace with his past...
