Finally! I love reading from Riftans point-of-view before book2 …it feels like a natural place to continue after his breakdown at the docks ”I lied, I will wait for you” at the ending of book1 🙌❤️👍 …so exciting to gain insight in his mind!!.. how will I survive 50hours until next chapter unlock?!?! 📖
Also, I hope readers who claim that Riftan is toxic, etc, can read his POV and really reflect on why he grew up with such poor coping skills. Growth only happens with experience. Him and Maxi needed time to learn from each other and how to deal with and relate to each other, and it's something they sorely lacked.
Omg!! Such a hard life he had as a young boy 😭😭😭😭, no wonder he always does extra everytime and make sure everyone is ok. Her mother finally after some years showed him some affection, I want to believe she is suffering deep inside for him, worry about him but there is some story she can’t tell Riftan or something.
I know what you mean. Perhaps this is considered a sort of prologue to book 2. And it sort of is. This book is really the key to understanding Riftan. I am a binge reader myself so I get the immersion point. If I could spend money to just unlock all the chapters in one go, I would honestly do it. I have resigned myself to reading these for the information it provides, and I will binge-read the whole thing again when all the chapters are out.
I have always thought that both their pasts are tragic, but even considering Maxi's abuse, if it were a competition I think it wouldn't be hard that Riftan had the harder life. So it makes me so proud of him to know who he grew up to be later on. Not just as a knight or lord, but as a person who retained his kind heart, his kindness, his character, the fact that he has a staunch moral code, and the fact that he is still full of love for that little girl he spotted sitting in the garden. Meant to be.
