I hope mc doesnt get swayed by ren, seems like mathew done some horrible things to ren b4 mc arrived and even tho he has a tragic past that doesnt mean he shud be 'saved' by the mc just because he was bfs with ren. Show no mercy, the only thing that should ever matter is keeping the plot on track and his 'family' safe. Frankly now that we see old ren is alive and can even take control of the body i would say destroy the old rens conciousness, it too dangerous to have something like that exist.
