Sister's Bride
one thing that always confuses me is why these novels always give China different names like celestial empires but then keep other countries names the same? or x or y country or huxia. it makes it look like they dont like their country being name China
Xerxes546:to clear some air here. I found some information that might shed some light. When china slowly let go of communist tendencys and tried to think like their global opponents, they realized to have power they needed a strong economy. over the years china's wealth started growing and they were shedding that skin of communism, presenting an industrious and capitalist nature on the world stage. one thing eluded the chinese government, technology and R&D. Specifically china wanted there own silicon valley. they wanted to advance their best and brightest to next stage, but when it came to inventions, ideas, and the future of tech they were clueless as to where to even start. When China is out of all other options they do what they do best, they borrow. China put feelers and sent invitations to all the American tech giants. Wine and dine them. Ask about future ventures in China, and most importantly how they got there ideas / what got them intersted in what they do. Almost all of them replied that science fiction and fantasy (fiction) paved the way to the tech boom America had. Her in lies the problem. China hates fiction. China hates sci/fi. For the longest time there was ban placed on all types of entertainment in china and this has been going on for decades. China was behind, and now had to correct that mistake. They had a lot of catching up to do, and lot of writers to incentivize with previously frowned upon Sci/fi and fantasy genre. China is old, really old. It has some classic stories, but that stopped at a point in time. Internationally, they were not producing. They can protect monkey king and three kindgdoms all they want, they dont have much else. (obviously they have more stories, Im talking about super well known stories and tales. King Arthur, etc...) I thought that tiny tidbit would be an interesting.
