This novel will be my second novel that I ever read. My first reaction, I find the prologue pretty confusing because "what's the reason his GF was killed?" That's something crucial to understand "why he killed his parents?" To commit such evil act (kill your parents) we need a good reason not something that should be left to imagination (like related to some unknown guy and his father).
seems like an okay start other than the random murders that had no rhyme or reason to them and the significant abuse to their son for no specific reason I feel if the author gave some reason or motivation for most of the things that happened in this chapter the beginning wouldn't feel so abrupt and disjointed
