Good actions, even if taken with ulterior motives, are still good. So what if he was ruthless to his competitors, while he singlehandedly raised the living standard of millions of people worldwide? He's a good person, that's all. Someone who's not ruthless to his competition is just a coward, provided they aren't the first to cross a certain line. So yeah, as long as he maintains that kind of attitude in the magic world, I'll be satisfied. Also, while the kids were 'acting' being emotional, their next conversation directly revealed that they still missed him. They say they were acting but they just exaggerated their emotional responses, and when out of sight and only with their siblings, they put their masks on again. Quite sad, if you think about it...
