so I have an idea that you can put in your story, there is a character in the history of the French revolution called Joseph Boulogne Chevalier de Saint-Georges, there is even a film that tells his story "Cheveliet" which is very good. He was very important for the period before the French revolution and during the revolution, his history was erased by Napoleon, but resentfully his history is being rescued, he was a commander of a brigade of only black soldiers, there are many things that were lost because of Napoleon who restructured slavery later in French history.
