Long response - A marriage takes 2 people and the problem may not necessarily be that of the woman but the man. A person can always have the best dessert in the world and still be greedy for more no matter the flavor, cost or age. There could be problems that even the children don't know about that could ruin it, or he could be a habitual cheater, she a spender etc, no one is perfect. Not that I am not blaming YL's mother as an affair also takes 2 persons but it is the man's choice to cheat, dump his wife and children. He is not 10 or 18, he's one in his 40's so this is supposedly a mature person. Also, if the wife cannot take it anymore, she also must make a choice about her marriage whether to fight for it, ignore it, give up, give a tit for tat or leave it. The other thing, condoms and birth control exists - use them. There is also STDs although its pretty common that these do not exist in these novels, just like contraceptives. Everyone loves to play without the protective gear and never think about the consequences.
