The obvious play is for Marie to fall for it and betray Winter, but... she's always treated Winter more like a daughter than a princess. Even if Marie does act, I don't fully believe she'd act without Winter's knowledge. outside of their thickening plot, Katya needs to cool it. I get their family has certain traditions, but she fr let her daughter witness her murdering someone!? The duvernays need therapy. Bad. This could mean we're gonna see Julia more, so that's nice. Thanks again for the great chapter dear author~
In ch. 118 it was insinuated that the entirety of Marie's hometown was wiped out. Then the next mention of her family that I remember was abt ch. 139. Here it mentions Lief as she had already been corresponding with him. it may have started during the 3 year time skip. I feel like someone has to know abt his placement next to Marie. It's way too much time not to notice some discrepancies. Especially since Marie already mourned the loss of EVERYONE she loved back home. No excuse will stop suspicion from palace players.
While I don't want Winter to be betrayed. Being betrayed by Marie, Emma or Elias(well that's a given) might break her. I feel like it might turn her motivations from keeping herself alive to actual revenge against the empress. I do wonder if Marie will actually give in or stand with Winter, feel like either way would not be surprising.
