If you are going to waste an entire chapter just to tell Enya's meaningless story, you might just as well throw 2 or 3 chapters in the garbage showing her POV anyway...

Just write what you want and Do not listen to the haters. they are all addicted already and will be back 😄

Everyone else seems to be saying they like the side characters but im gonna be honest. I’m reading this story because i like Jake, i like the world and the “magic” system. The other characters are ok as pieces to get more of Jakes progression but idc about them individually enough to enjoy their own chapters. One every now and then is fine but multiple days of non-Jake chapters feels kinda bad. Just my 2 cents, still love the story either way and will continue reading. No hate just giving my opinion

Some people are going to like the side chapters and some people aren’t. Personally I liked them for side character building and world building because a story gets boring from only one POV. But honestly, I think you should just write however you want to. You can never tell what is just a vocal minority or rather a majority opinion.

I think this side story would have been more interesting that Tim. Tim’s story isn’t bad, if it was released all at once then there would have been less complaints. Try mixing the pacing, Half MC, half side-character. I don’t think limiting yourself is a good idea for a writer. Also, make a poll or ask the comments about the side-character stories. I wouldn’t have voted for Tim and definitely picked the mysterious previous 1st ranked character.

Personal ideas here. I don't think it would be a bad thing to continue sidestory chapters like Tim's adventures, it's just that it gets harder to wait for new chapters when the storyline goes deep into the details of the side characters' stories because I miss the mc pretty fast since I'm more interested in him compared to others, fangirling jake here haha, except I'm not a girl. In the end it's fine either way, really. If the side characters' story chapters were to come in bulk (like 2-3 or even 4 chapters in one go) that would be even better if you can pull it off (Idk how much time it takes to write a chapter so..) cuz we could just continue the mc's storyline where it's left off right away with the next post. And not gonna lie dude but I'm pretty hungry for extra chapters at this point lol

I like to stay with the mc but if there's a character that will really stick for a long time and have a tangible impact on the mc the development would be good, if is just someone else from the group but won't have an impact on the mc a summary would do I recognize that a writer's mind will be different so don't restrict your ideas either but I like the poll idea in case you want to see in which direction it would be better recieved

The problem,in my opinion ,with Tim’s chapters is that there were to many. For example ,I believe that a maximum of three chapter for a different perspective every 10 or so chapters from Jakes perspective would be more than ideal

I think that as long as you have a clear objective in mind, with some hints for us readers to speculate, it's worth writing side characters chapters. Even historical events, to add to the lore, are good! A great example, imo, is Chrysalis. Sure it's a different vibe, but I love the side chapters!

Just write how you want to Ark. You are by far my favorite author on this site, and that's because your dedication, grounded magic system, and proper story boarding. I trust that whatever you bring to the table it will blow away all the other authors who tend to just write on impulse.

The issue I had with the side chapter wasn't that it was about Tim, just that I was really curious about what happened to Jake and then suddenly I gotta read about Tim... It's a pacing thing, it's ok to have side characters when there's a downfall of the action... it can make us catch a breather after all the tension. It's not okay to break the tension to bring us into a different situation, because we are still thinking and curious about how things are going for MC. For example, the time when they were making houses, clothes and defences could give time for a side chapter, but the time of the Tim side chapter came just in the beginning of a new phase of the Ordeal when we wanted to know Jake's plans and actions.

I personally enjoy the occasional other perspective but I prefer the overall focus to stay on Jake so I like this quick overview a bit more. However, your novel your choice and I'll follow whatever you decide without complaint.

Dear Arkinslize, i feel like i have to speak out about your comment. Why would you bend your story to your reader's will? What you wrote up so far was without the input of your readers, it is your work and your time, so why not write what you want? some people dislike side storys and i do too, but provided the characters live long enough for these chapters to be meaningful, why not venture out from time to time? after some time, these sidestories hold meaning as well and even if you did not like it at a time, you can drop amazing bookmarks and hooks for your story in these sidestories as well as worldbuilding. i say write what you want, i will be there to read it.

do what you want but if you are going to be making decision based on how the audience feels then try this. post a comment asking about a preference or whatever and then ask to thumbs up if we feel positive about it or give a comment if we feel negative towards it and explain why. It sounds like a cliche youtuber but It could work. you could also make a poll at (strawpoll.me) and post the link though phone users would have trouble using the link.

I personally enjoy the POV chapters... Would be optimal if the entire POV summary is done in one chapter or multiple chapters dropped once like this one and not over multiple days ... But I think it helps to make us understand more about the characters as it seems they probably wouldn't be the same after every ordeal....

Hey, I strongly belive that some people like the side chapters and others won’t. I believe that as long as you deem it important for your work / story / development or even a change of pace - your view as author will tell us that. I totaly support the idea that you should not limit yourself ^coz of rant in comments.

I actually like side chapters but also hate them. I like your book to much and i need at least 10 chapters/day. That's the problem.

I'll be honest. I enjoyed Tim's misadventures... but I'm reading for Jake and all the things happening around him. If I wanted to read Tim's story, I'd hope it's in his own spinoff series or in less than a chapter summaries. this series is more like the original Jojo series. more key characters to develop, less side characters to care about. Where as Tim's adventure seemed to be heading in the One Piece backstory direction... that's a whole arc and a half for each backstory... before the next expansion pack of their backstory comes around and we have more layers to their life as short as the should have already been, seemingly building up decades of life experience in a 10yo than most adults in their 30s. see what I did here? too much information. If you'd like, a little more info wouldnt have hurt for tim, but 3 whole chapters, I feel like that's enough for you to decide that a spinoff is In order, but for Enya and them, this was a perfect summary that was unobtrusive, not too much not to little. the perfect ratio. like the image provided, Red is perfect Yellow is too much, Green is Ok, Orange is too little and Purple is just enough. also, this was a single packet. why so much yellow? I hate the flavour.
