Ok so is he really an 8 year old, cause he definitely acts like a petulant child, and not like the 30 something he is suppose to be. And I am not talking about just the “let’s get on their bad side”. His inner monologues, discussions with his artifact, and general attitude all have a very childish demeanor.

I feel like if he can beat the Marchioness in the chess match later she will force him into the highest magic academy just to have one of her descendants kick his ass.

I like the way you wrapped up the first book with the lead into the next book giving us readers a lot of possibilities as to the development of the main character. Hopefully I'll just have to have to scroll up for the next book as I do not see the name for it.
