MC is just too stupid for this to be a fun read, all tech from this future world so far has been super advanced, and he didn't think twice about selling/giving away electronics, yes he tried to sell the watches previously.
It's really funny looking at the comments expressing confusion and sometimes ignorance. It's a form of entertainment itself, reaction comments are. In all its 5000 years history, the monarchy type of government has been very erratic on how good or bad it was in affecting the overall population. One dynasty may be great in treating it's people, the next being lead by assholes. The Chinese people could never tell. But after that, the Chinese had achieved a stability when they established itself as a socialist/communist government. Never in its history did the people become this rich. Never in its history did the people experience the least oppression from their government. The people in the Ming or Tang dynasties have been good to their people, but that was too distant in the past. After Ming, the Han, China's vast majority have mostly been oppressed for three hundred years until the later years of Mao Zedong's reign after the communist party consolidated it's power. So while, it uncomfortable, the progpaganda and nationalism has worked for the Chinese people and since then, they've only become richer.
