I think the original comment was sarcastic in nature.

Hazetha:Definition of a filler; something that brings nothing new and has no impact on the story. Some arcs can be long winded and take a side step from mech design, like the "dinosaur" adventure, but it has an impact on the story to this day. It can be discussed whether the story is unbalanced at times, but without all this fleshing out of the world, the story would never be as awesome as it is. 😊

I expect the argument will continue until Ves actually shows them the designs of the Blackbeak and Crystal Lord. Pierce will continue to criticize it, but I expect they will both have a huge impact on Laida's view of the world of mech design.

I like that this introduces Ves to new points of view. This kind of chapters may be slow story wise, but they help for character growth. It wouldn't be strange for something said here being the key for a future surprise.

Tis both a filler, and not a filler. The author is telling us important information that will shape Ves’s approach to Mech design in future, however, he is also giving us a decent amount of unnecessary information in the process.
