Chapter 17~ Axx Discovers More Ways To Use His Fire Magic

I wake up to the sun glaring down at me. I groan as I am not ready to wake. "Since I am already awake, I might as well start the big day!" I think with excitement. "Soon I will finally have a place to call my own." I think.

I get up and walk to the pile of food I left by the shack. I looked to see many big logs of wood sticking out of the pile. "I would love to use those, but first I must see if I can use something smaller first," I say as I pick up a 10 inch stick.

I breathe hard as the stick slowly rises into the air. I start to sweat as it inches slowly around me. Flames lick at the wood, making it smooth. "Yes, this is going perfectly!" I think as sweat pours into my eyes.

Before I know what is happening, the stick explodes into a giant ball of smoke. I gasp as thick black dust covers my face. I cough deeply as it enters my lungs.

After I finish coughing, I put my hand to my chest and rub where it hurts. I feel my hand getting warm and gasp as the pain disappears.

"Ok, that was strange, but at least I am not in pain now!" I think.

I go to the river. I cup my hands in the river. Away from the river, I scrub my face. After about 10 minutes, I look into the river and see a clear reflection staring back at me.

I smile, "I know I am ready to try this again." I think as I walk back towards the woodpile.

I grab a small stick from the pile. It rises faster and a small flame takes form. The stick rotates as the flame sands the stick down. With my mind blank, nothing bad happens this time. The stick smooths out as if it was always smooth. With a smile, the flame disappears. "This is perfect. Now I know the way to do this. " I think with a smirk.

A 150-foot log slowly rises into the air. It slowly gets sanded. When it is smooth, I levitate the log towards the middle of the clearing. I levitate it upwards as sweat pours into my eyes and I pant. I position it and it sticks deeply into the ground.

I walked back from it. "Holy Dragon, that's a lot bigger than I need." "If I cut it into 4 pieces, that should work for now."I think as I wipe the sweat from my face.

I groan as I feel so dang tired. I start to sway and before I can stop, my eyes roll back into my head as I pass out.

I groan as my head throbs in pain. I hear a loud "Creak" sound. I wake up in an instant. I ran to see the 150-foot long fall.

"Dragon, this is not good at all." I think as I run into action, levitating the log up with all my might. Sweat pours down my face as I pant from holding it up. When it finally snaps into place, I sigh in relief. As I let it go, it sways a little bit but stays in place.

"Thank the dragon!" I think in relief. "Maybe there is a way for it to stay in place." I wonder aloud to myself.

I kneel where the log is in the ground. I saw a large gaping hole where it was about to fall. I grab a bucket of water and carry it over to the log. I think, "I better hurry up and try this before it falls again!"

I kneel beside the log, and flames lick at my hand. I put my hand into the hole. The flames grow bigger as the flames wrap around the hole, getting brighter. I hold the flames as they fill the hole the whole way. I can smell the wood burning as the flames lick the wood. Sweat pours down my face as it takes a lot out of me to hold onto the flames. I grab the bucket of water and pour it onto the flames. I watch as it "hisses" as the water hardens the flames.

I touch the light blue rock, solidly holding the massive log into place. I stand up with a smile on my face. I jump into the air, "That is how you do that." I say as I sway in exhaustion.

I walk to the barn to eat something. I feel much better now that I am full."Now is the time to cut the logs in half. Having already quickly done the math in my head, I now know what to do." I think as I get to work.

I walk over to the 150-foot log. "Now how to do this?" I think my thought process thinks faster than my brain can handle. "I know the perfect way to do this," I say with a smirk on my lips.

I concentrate hard as the bluestone steps go upwards. I pant, as it takes a lot of energy to keep the stones from falling. I walk up the stones. I make sure I concentrate on what I need to do. Every few seconds, I hear "hiss" as my sweat hits the stones. At the top of the 150 feet I walk down to 120 feet, the stones above me disappear. At 120, I walk down a few more feet.

"Perfect," I think, as a huge thin flame hits the log dead on. All that I can hear is "whoosh" as the flame ax hits the log and starts to fall on me. I quickly wrap the log into the flames as I lower it to the ground, seconds before it hits me.

With a sigh of relief, I cut the log two more times. I walk the way down as I think, "I feel exhausted, but I will finish the layout of the house." I groan as I know how much more work needs to be done.

On the ground, the stone steps disappear. All that is left is the smell of hickory in the air. I walk over to the 37-foot logs on the ground. If I create a 50x50 house, I should have everything I have always wanted to have. With a smile on my face, I moved each of the logs 50 feet apart from each other. I watch as the 3 logs sway back and forth. "Dragon, can anything go my way in building this house?" I think

Like I did with the first log, I dug around them and filled them with flames and then water. "Perfect, I rush my magic at the logs, but they stay in place." I think as I look at how big the logs are. "Even if I made 3 floors, I would still have about 10 feet on each floor." I think as I quickly calculate the math in my head.

"For the rest of the day, I will take a break. Other things that need to be done tomorrow: I will work on the flooring, the sides, and the roof, "I think, as I am busy the rest of the day. When my head finally hits the ground, I am out cold.
