Chapter 13

I spent three days testing and training Soaring Dragon's Blaze and also tested out its first Martial Skill, which was named the Hit of Wrath. That Skill was a Kick type skill, so now I had a fist and a Kick type skill. After this training session, I could take on high-level fourth-layer opponents or possibly even low-level fifth layers. Although I could win, I would have to finish the fight quickly since I didn't have much Qi because I was still in the second layer.

The next day, we headed out to the Competition. I had registered beforehand to ensure my participation.

While walking, I decided to ask Calypso some things I had in mind about him. A significant conversation, if I do say so myself.

"Hey Calypso, how strong are you?" I asked. "What layer opponents can you take on?"

"You just became my master, so I am as strong as you. I can become stronger by eating Fire-Attribute pills, though. Five pills can improve my strength to a seventh-layer Basic Human Body." Calypso explained. "And the answer to your second question, which you didn't ask but just thought of, is… My Previous Master was a being higher than the Transcendents, who was also the first Transcendent but ascended higher than that."

"Hmm, I get it now," I said, even though I didn't understand more than half of it. Calypso, in his human form, just rolled his eyes.

"Wait, if you can transform into a human, why don't you compete in the Tournament instead of me?" I asked.

"Too lazy," Calypso replied.

"Figures," I muttered.

Three hours passed by, and the Tournament finally started. The first match was between a guy named Liam and a girl named Olivia. The names in this world seemed quite similar to those in my world. Maybe it's because of gramps, who knows. I watched as the fights went down. After two hours of pure boredom, it was finally my turn. It was against a guy named Ben.

"A second layer dares to challenge me? Give up, kid." Ben boasted. He was a fourth-layer Basic Human Body Martial Artist, so it wasn't going to be that hard taking him down.

"Man, shut up. Just start already. I don't have all day for the likes of you!" I said. As I said that, he charged. This guy was stupid enough to charge at me for a frontal confrontation, so I avoided and kneed him on the side of his stomach. Noob.

He screamed in agony as the adrenaline wore off. I could feel his immense killing intent towards me, so I casually kicked his nuts, and he fainted. Yeah, I think I hit them a little too hard now that I think about it.

Next, there were some exciting fights, but nothing worth mentioning. My second match was against Theodore. As you can imagine, I kicked him in the head and strangled him between my legs, and he eventually gave up.

Then came the finals.

I was worried about this because my opponent was George, a Low-Level Sixth Layer Martial Artist. I would probably lose since he can also reinforce his body with magic now that he has reached this level of Cultivation.

When we started fighting, I noticed some hostility, but it wasn't much. We traded blows for a while, but he hurt way more than what I thought I did because of his extra Qi and reinforced body. To make matters worse, weapons weren't permitted in this Tournament, so I had another handicap. I tried a spinning Hook Kick, but he quickly blocked it with his fists. Then I decided to bring out the big guns and tried using Hit of Wrath. When it connected with his body, he winced in pain. He screamed in anger; then, he unleashed his Demon Spirit.
