Using other people work in your story and Charging people to read it, is illegal. Most of time company doesn't care as most fanfic only work as advertisement for them, and going for lawsuit may consume more money. So they ignore people using patron and other but this is Web novel a famous website, and here asking money to read fanfic? Maybe Author didn't know it might cost him more than he might make.
