Yeah I agree with that it sounds more like an excuse rather than an actual reason, can't say I have seen every comment but I never saw something as bad as the author is making it out to be.

Dude most of the toxic and bad comments with bad words are shadowbanned by webnovel and are only visible to the author in author inbox only and not visible to general readers.

Toxic comments alone don't get shadow banned, rather using certain words, you can be as toxic as you want as long as you change your wording or censor yourself so some comments would have gotten through, plus as long as the author replied it would show up on his profile and no such thing happened, now he might not have replied to a single one but that is unlikely, if they really bothered him so much he dropped it then he should have replied to at least one which he never did, plus no one else here seems to have seen it either, so the chances of these comments existing is really low.
