I don't understand why all writers hate Hiruzen so much, even if he didn't try hard to protect the Uchiha or prevent Danzo from committing crimes, yet he did his duty perfectly and died protecting Konoha. But if the problem is that he did not take care of Naruto, it is because he is busy like Naruto in the era of peace, he could not see his family at all, so how do you expect Hiruzen and Hua Hokage to do in the era of the Cold War

Yes, I agree with you that he is not strict and yet he is portrayed in fan fiction as a man hungry for power and willing to kill everyone to remain the Hokage.

And there’s plenty others things aswell. He’s a great shinobi who died for the village but a terrible leader
Minato was the Hokage at the time. Do you want to leave everything to Hiruzen as he did not consult Hiruzen before performing the Seal skill Hiruzen proved his loyalty when he chose to sacrifice himself in order to escape Tobirama even when he got the title of Hokage was deserved so I hope you change your look to Hiruzen. You only hate him because he wasn't a perfect guy

kato Dan is 100% a man of Danzo and Hiruzen, he is just garbage and magically took the tsunami for himself, again danzo was not deprived of influence and he and hiruzen did not really do anything at all for konoha, children are just like meat in war and geniuses are either killed or slaves of danzo, yamoto potential senju does not need anyone at all, even tsunade, minato is also good, a child can kill a special squad that was created to be caught by jinchuuriki kushina, no matter what kind of genius he is, he is a child without any real experience and strength, he is inferior to them in everything and they did not even move when he attacked them, apparently it's okay to do so, he was also sent specially for kushina from hiruzen, yamoto again, I don't remember that his abilities were interesting to people at all, he was the only one who could use a tree, but he wasn't trained at all to become strong as a kage
I told you Hiruzen is not a perfect man. He's just someone who made mistakes, but he's not weak. He was nicknamed in his youth, god of shinobi, like Hashirama and Hagoromo.

but its true the 3rd allow the extinction of senju,uzumaki,uchiha that he doesn't control. tsunade the last senju-student naruto-brainwashed through lonely childhood sasuke-hostage so itachi will work for him also him being called the god of shinobi is propaganda his too weak for that title,he knows many jutsu but no technique that make him strong or feared(reaper death seal isn't included its a suicide jutsu) he goes through a lot of war but doesn't partake much when he became hokage. 2nd ninja war the sannin almost do all the work, 3rd ninja war when minato rose to fame even to the point enemy ninja can abandon their mission once he was encountered also this was also the time when the uchiha starts hating the village their efforts was blatantly ignored by hiruzen and didn't allowed fugaku to run for hokage, only orichimaru and minato was put forth as candidates, and with danzo fanning the flames of the uchiha it led to the massacre and the 3rd allowed it. and the only reason he step down in the 3rd ninja war is because of his wrong decision and his afraid of an upcoming rebellion so he stepdown if not minato doesn't have a chance to be hokage

Everyone has his assumptions that he stepped down from the position of Hokage for fear of death, just an assumption from you, the writer did not show us any reason or goal for Hiruzen's actions, even when he caused a disaster, he was not intentional, and in the end he died while protecting Konoha, this weakens your assumption that he is a coward, but Orochimaru himself admitted that if Hiruzen was 10 years younger than he won against him. This means that for the 10 years we watched him, he was a period of low strength and we can't judge him only from her.

nahh he really stepped down because he let go of iwa without paying a reparation after theg were defeated in the war and many konoha shinobi got angry for this and they protest about this thats why hiruzen have no choice but to stepped down
