Just not for me. I’d rather not read a story where half of the side characters have more depth and are stronger than the MC.

Saying that the guy is an idiot really solidifies your argument. ✨ What can I expect from someone who complains that the MC is weaker than the other characters around him ? After all, it's mandatory that the main character is the strongest in all creation and no one will stay for a long period of time above him in terms of power. How dares he, who is an orphan, be weaker than the golden spoon feed children that received training since the moment they could move around?! How atrocious! Does this author think this disgusting character development will be accepted by us ?! We want a cold MC, without any emotions, without any remorse or any flaws.

Most popular fictions always have really strong side characters though. The world is vast and the MC should revolve around the current world not the world around the MC. Just my own personal thought when I’m writing

Have you ever read a normal book? I really don't get the concept of MC having to be the strongest person amongst his peers, even if it defies all logic. I mean I guess if you're used to your self-insert power fantasy MC's it makes sense, but have you ever read something like The Lord of the Rings with an MC like Frodo? Combat strength really isn't and shouldn't be the defining character trait of the MC. It's like all the people saying: "Uh... Nephis stronk and plot armor... I feel like she is real MC even though she has about as much personality and character developement as a dead fish...".

He should be the MC for a reason. If he’s not the strongest, then the strongest should be the MC. It’s as simple as that.

Well, though Sasuke isn’t the strongest either, I’d be fine if he was the MC because he makes up for his lack of strength with personality and background, unlike Naruto who was—throughout the anime—basically an annoying simp.
