The character is not mearly an OC/substitute following the original script but one that makes different choices. Along with a different setup/beginning and character interactions that makes the story actually take a similar but different(but imo better/happier) path than the novel. The novel is super fun to read and still keep the essence of the novel we all know and love. Anyways we all gotta love an industrious MC with actual character development.

Perhaps that’s true but for this novel, while the events are still similar(It’s a fanfic so it’s going to take similar events and concepts) the character development and the way they turn out and are described are different and are what make this a good (I stress fanfiction) novel.

the personality of rudeus was the main thing that bothered me about mushoku tensei.no matter how powerfull he got he never stopped being a coward, him focusing completely on magic was a boring choice by the author, i prefer meele fighters. his character gave extreme sidekick vibes off, i understand that in reality a personality like this might be normal but this is a fantasy story and after the amount of battles he went through i expected him to grow out of it, at least a little, it just never happened. with that said im gonna give it a try. didn't like the ending either,its a fanasy story man come on find a way to prolong your life and live happily ever after, roxy and the elf girl had hundreds of years of lifespan left when he died, im a sucker for happy endings not those bittersweet ones.
