Make him as op as you want, just don't nerf him when he becomes too strong for the enemies. In marvel, there are tons of villains with a variety of powers, one of them can put the mc on a backfoot. For example: If the mc use Saitama's powers but the enemy is master of the mystic arts, the master can just trap saitama at the mirror dimension. Even if Saitama destroys the mirror dimension with a punch he'll still be stranded in between dimensions, not knowing how to come back at all.
