But the plot and pacing improve more and more as the story progresses. He only gets a familiar later in the first year, he only duels a teacher in the second year, he only participates in the international dueling competition in his third year. And there's more. I don't want to spoil it. Thus, don't just quit in the beginning chapters and keep reading, the book will improve itself in all aspects. - Romance: The romance might seem a bit off in the beginning since it would seem that mc is using tricks and lies to the love interest, but that's NOT the case. He'll realize that he doesn't like tricks after his first few tries, and he'll be honest after he can fully trust her and when her mental defense is strong enough to keep his secrets. -Humor: It's something that'll always stay controversial. Every person has a different sense of humor. Some will absolutely love it, some will cringe (Even I cringe at some of the things I've written in the past). But, the cringy stuff is non-existent in the future chapters, since the story becomes serious as the plot progresses, so no need to worry.
