Probably because it's a novel that is being translated for Americans while being about a chinese boy putting down America. It's blatantly racist and they are trying to get us to read and enjoy it.

But isn't the main character American? I know it's a Chinese translated novel but I thought the protagonist wasn't Chinese.

this is the first academic we novel I've read which actually needed me to lower my IQ to read and I did not get past the first 10 chapters. I've seen better novels which were dropped but some how this thing made it.😡😭
