A world catastrophe that causes the death of 90% of humanity, in such a situation making children and having a harem (or something similar) is an obligation. There are literally official contingency plans in place in the US and the UN to prevent human extinction in a zombie apocalypse... and yes, it is having a single man have many children with different women to diversify the genes.
