Review Detail of StanLJP in The Magician of Sound

Fairly mediocre to say the very least. When I began reading this, I initially thought of it as a knock off “Irregular at Magic High-School” or something of the sort for obvious reasons, but I was proven wrong as I read further as this thought couldn’t be any further from the truth. Although I honestly would’ve preferred that in comparison to what this novel turned out to be. I think the plot’s progression was okay, but the battles were quite stale and often times unnecessarily dragged out. I mean, the novel itself is pretty much a big battle against one other race and I for the most part skipped most of those chapters as the fights weren’t all that interesting and predictable. Even the last dozen chapters or so just switched between povs of different fights, makijg for a pretty boring ending. The author tries to hype up the MC for his genius ability in warfare, but I really don’t think it brought any excitement to things whatsoever. What really ruined this novel for me was the characters and their interactions. More often than not, the conversations were incredibly dull and emotional scenes simply failed to invoke any reaction from me because it just felt too unnatural. The romance was even worse. It was just shoved down our throats with no real develmopment to speak of. Don’t think that there was anything particularly wrong with the girls, but it was done poorly. In all, this novel left me disappointed and I don’t really recommend reading it unless you simply have nothing better to do.
