Review Detail of P_Karnage in The Mech Touch

At the start I really enjoyed it because he wasn't a typical twit with a system who only thinks with his lower body part. He was also a pretty humble guy cuz he realised that he would be nothing without the system. The sad thing is that his character development is basically him turning into a selfish, egocentric yet wimpy man who never uses his ressources to the maximum. His stats also do not reflect his abilities coherently meaning that he is weaker than he should be. I'm not expecting a guy who can blow up mountains here just a man who can stand his own ground. The way Ves's character is built up is done in a way where the auto focused on his principles and ambitions at the start but he never grew into his future shoes of grandeur and instead just became an annoying whiner who is just whimsical and complains a lot. Now to the main point of the book : CRAFTING. He makes mechs for god's sake yet instead of expanding on this aspect, the author focuses on incredibly slowburn world building with his expanding business and side characters, some of whom push him around for no good reason. Plus reading him make mechs makes the reader feel like its a chore. There is seriously not much passion in him. So when it comes to crafting the beauty of Mech building is not portrayed at all. Instead the author focuses on really abstract concepts and then we realise that we havent seen much at all in the building process except some fancy equipment and cheat gems. His ability to craft does not at all match his system's potential making the pacing of the story strange as well. It takes him in my opinion way too long to level up to journey man for instance. This is a bit normal and it might just be me being nitpicky here but the MC litteraly seems to forget important people who would help him when he was weaker on his quest for power and wealth. His path starts to turn from ambition to greed which is never a good thing but hey humans ain't perfect. Finally the author justifies his actions so much through info dumps and yet the MC does not usually live up to those principles. All in all I would call this a novel which started out good and for which I held high expectations just to have the MC turn into some pathetic pushover who litteraly feels like a "salted fish". At this point this book is just a chapter pump.
