While it's true that in most fantasy worlds, the dark side tends to be more prominent than the light, it's also true that the dark elements add depth to the story. However, in this context, we have a young man from the 21st century, accustomed to a world of laws, and no special powers arriving in a new land with access to magic. His intense curiosity about the new powers may incline him more towards the good side{because he used to live in a lawfull society )and will be more optimistic about the future.
