I feel like having a clone with a separate consciousness from Feng himself is a lot more interesting than him just controlling two bodies simultaneously. This doesn't just double his strength in battle and overall capabilities like a regular clone would, but enhances everything he could achieve by multiple times as he doesn't have to split his focus and concentration on controlling another body, and the clone could also do things in God's Domain while Feng is logged out. It also makes the plot more interesting as it adds another unpredictable factor to the entire story, not to mention that it also allows the clone to have some kind of personality and individual thoughts, which would be impossible if the clone was just Feng's permanent doppelganger.

It's less a nerf for artificial tension, at least in my fanfic since it was definitely something LOC used for that purpose, and more a consequence of using multiple Berserk skills

The difference in strength between a regular God and an Ancient God was huge due to Ancient Gods having mastered a Law and integrating it into their Divine Body, creating a Superior Divine Body. In fact, the difference between them was like a difference of tiers, being even greater than the difference between Tier 5 and Tier 6 creatures, and it wouldn't be wrong to consider Ancient God level beings a tier higher than Tier 6 creatures, surpassing Tier 6.
