She is such a good writer! Even though I know Riftan must survive, since the book isn't anywhere near finished, I found myself at the edge of my seat, frantically reading to see Riftan again. I how the author got awards for this book because it deserves it!

I was thinking that too, but her teacher also said it would be very dangerous if it fell in the wrong hands AND if she revealed it, she would be promoted to a higher position in the Tower and not be able to leave. Although, Ruth clearly left anyways, so any repercussions for housing an escaped mage is already being dealt to the RDK due to Ruth anyways. What's one more mage gonna matter! Riftan will end up being a sanctuary for all Tower deserters, to his great dismay lol.

Honestly, the dress will just need to be cleaned. It's salvageable. I thought she was going to shred it or burn it. She's either not that mean, or simply not that smart. Probably the latter?

Did it have to be a kitten that died? Couldn't she have had a pet cockroach or a pet rat. the kitten's death is a tough pill to swallow. Poor kitten... 😢

We did get that cave scene way back in the story. I hope there's more to the story than just this war. I don't want it to end yet!!

Yeah, it broke my heart but I was also proud of her. She has really come a long way from chapter 1. I really like seeing her grow over time. She's holding her own pretty well out there, and she's showing her stubbornness against Riftan more often now. It's like she's breaking through the trauma of her upbringing and showing more of her true self. But this chapter was pretty difficult to read.
