Honestly thought Horizon would get out of the legal trouble using insanity as reasoning, after all, he took such a heavy hit it makes sense that with his abilities he was not making decisions with a logical sane mind. I am sure that the people and at least the court would understand that his body went autopilot after his brain was damaged but I think the author wants Horizon to take the mental and social hit.
