I agree it took me forever to write.
"Then let me explain with a simple analogy. When you use your powers, it eats away at your eternal soul one tiny piece each time. Once that piece is gone, you can't get it back. It's like a sand castle. It looks solid and sturdy when you first build it because the sand is firm, compact and wet. As the day wears on, the sun and sea breeze rob the structure of moisture, and the wind gusts erode the dry sand from the castle a grain at a time. Until it no longer resembles the same structure. After that, what is left gets swept away by the rising tide, one wave after another washing a bit of the sandcastle back out to sea each time the wave surges and pushes higher onto the beach.
