If you're referring to the two-headed Cerberus from the previous main quest, it belonged to another universe. In each universe, there can exist different races, with a greater or lesser number of them. Regarding the Cerberus, the protagonist mentioned that in the previous universe they destroyed, this race also existed, but they were very weak. From what I recall in the book, this race seems to be common, but on this current planet, they live covertly in the abyss. However, their origins and true power will be revealed in a few chapters further along in the story you're in :)
Most didn't know, but they weren't demons, but something close to a demonic beast and, at the same time, not belonging to either of those two. Still, they could live within the abyss as if they were demons and cultivate as such.
