word of advice: avoid info dumps at the start of the novel. it tends to push readers away. keep it short and simple, or explain it through a conversation between two characters since that's usually more entertaining from a reader's perspective. i had to learn these from personal experience. I understand you have a duty to world build, but sometimes it's better to slowly world build rather than hit the readers with a meteor of information. at the same time, many people find it hard to remember certain bits of information when they are shown through info dumps, and have an easier time remembering it when there are certain scenes associated to the information. this does not mean you should explain things mid-fight, but a change of scenery usually helps.

you expect the main character to throw out everything he knows, and had known for almost 60 years, in a measly decade? furthermore, not just a normal decade, but one where he spent the majority of his life incapable of doing anything without the help of an adult? let me remind you, this man has dedicated his life toward martial arts and at a certain point, thought that he knew everything there was to know about martial arts.a person cannot change the way they think with the snap of their fingers. many of the older generations dislike technology because it was not the way they had grown up and understood things. for more than three centuries, people refused to believe in most scientific advancements because it was against everything they were taught.if anything, Riu is doing much better than most people would have in his situation, especially when being exposed to a concept that didn't make any sense to him despite his understanding of martial arts.
