Nick wasn't amongst those numbers as he had long since taken the individualized tests by the professors on the subjects and passed with perfect marks in everything except herbology which he had trouble with the practical portion as per normal for him. this is his test run, the AI is still loyal to him but he didn't code any moral guidelines so to see if it will aid or destroy humans he gives the control over its moral development to a human. that wouldn't work if he did it himself because the AI would follow his every command while humans can just make suggestions and try to reason with it
