With hopes of restoring their relationship to what it used to be like in her first life, Sakura had not spared any effort in getting close to Rebecca. Unlike Hina, who didn't visit so often lately, Sakura had invaded the Laurent's estate as often as possible. She visited Rebecca at least once or twice a week, bearing gifts and a friendly demeanour whenever she visited the newly installed marchioness. Indeed, over the passing summer days, Sakura had noticed a slight increase in their closeness and she could tell that Rebecca was more fond of her over time. But that wasn't good enough. Rebecca, for one, still didn't permit her to address her much casually neither did she address Sakura in a casual tone. Almost as if she didn't plan for their relationship to cross certain lines. Sakura could tell these things. Rebecca was nice, friendly and had a warm welcoming smile. But beneath her friendly attitude, she was keeping Sakura at arm's length. Not letting her get too close. Hina was to blame for this drastic change in the two's relationship. Only the heavens knew how Hina had approached Rebecca and what shameless honey words she had whispered to Rebecca to have the marchioness bewitched by her. However, all hope was not lost. Within the Laurent's mansion, Sakura had found another useful "friend" in the younger brother, Thomas. Although he was nothing more than a handsome man with an insatiable desire for anything walking around in skirts, he was a respected man in the society and he had a strong noble standing that no one could question, thus Sakura viewed him as a useful pawn in her game. The best part was that he had an undeniable interest in Hina. It was an open secret amongst the whispering servants in the Laurent house who had witnessed him trying to woo the young widow several times.
