Thanks Coldman: Firstly, your English is fine.... I don't think you have anything to worry about in that area. The picture is of the city of Laketown with Erebor in the background, but it was taken from the internet as my artistic skills are awful. I will take this into account though and keep my eyes peeled for something better. I would always like more readers and anything that would help that is a great idea. BobTales

That's an interesting issue. Tolkien himself set somewhat of a precedent by breaking up his story. Book two of LOTR (The Two Towers) followed Aragorn and most of the fellowship, with book 3 (The Return of the King) following Frodo and Sam. This was unusual at the time. In modern fantasy however the changing of POV is almost universal. In book one of A Game of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones), there are changes of POV in each of the 72 chapters totaling 8 different characters. This is also the case in The Wheel of Time's 14 novel extravaganza, and in fact in every other major fantasy genre series I have read in the past few decades. While I think it can be harder to follow, it does allow the story to be more rounded and have a fuller perspective. While I can see your point, I'm going to try and recreate modern fantasy writing in this novel, rather than try and imitate the slightly less choppy style used by Tolkien I am setting this work in his world, not trying to parrot him.

Chapter 6 has only one POV, that of Earendil, Do you mean the flashback causes confusion, or is it the story in general (which does change POV each chapter), that's causing you to lose focus?
