Well he's mentally broken for a reason, and since he was tortured when was only a kid, it could've caused many mental deformities, or even a relapse, and seeing the way the author is proceeding, I'm sure they'll both merge one day and, and become the best version of each other while removing all the negative aspects, the ones which you talked about.

But i would stil rather endure that pain once, instead of suffering from having my body destroyed and recreated to forcefully absorb mana for a lifetime, seems like an easier way out, it would be better if he could that in the bones marrows itself, if it really does enhance stuff, then his healing, mana absorption, adaptation, max capacity, and everything will increase.
