honestly. this mc is kinda dumb. who in there right mind approaches a cave with the shape of a skull? who wouldn't at least retreat some where els to talk about it? and there have been times where time was critical like when the emperor (or was he a king) was injured and he wasted time too. anyways even though he is smart enough to plot against and even destroy enemies stronger than him. he still does stupid life threatening stuff once in a while.
