to be honest he did confront his father. when he found out about mangekyo .

he had but that see us who just watch it from other side of screen. but Itachi despite all his abilities he was just 13 so expecting too much was probably overestimation. there were many ways to resolve this situation. however the Author wanted to show main Reasons for his action. so there may be other Reasons why Itachi did not chouse other way. i personaly can look at this from the point of reader who reads the Story autor wrote .

these options would destroy Konoha but uchiha wanted to take over. both orochimaru or suna had literaly no Reason to help them. both needed to be reached. for Shisui more practical would be using his eyes on Hokage or danzo . that would allow them to achieve their goals. however that was not absolute. because even if hiruzen and danzo were controled there were other councilors. it could have worked with Fugaku who could control the clan (hypotheticaly).

and as for kurama. Fugaku hid his mangekyo hoping that he could do it without it. using Kurama without mangekyo would also destroy uchiha.

on the topic of orochimaru help. he was legit traitor who wanted the sharingan and nobody knew where to find him. so allying with him was unvise. on the topic of saving mother of Itachi and Sasuke. Sasuke was saved by Itachis action undaubtedly horrible. About his Mother. I do not think that Danzo would let her live. on the topic of village destruction that is correct but uchiha would not live long enough to see It . other villages would start a war using Konoha weakness which is what Obito told Sasuke and what Itachi wanted to prevent.

in fact they did. while the uchiha clan was powerful they did not have the numbers. and about the strong shinobi. Konoha had all other clans both ANBU. not to mention that only Fugaku had an experience with mangekyo. And while Shisui and Itachi were one of the strongest ninjas of their time even they could not fend off Konoha. But lets get back to numbers. During the 4-th war allied shinobi forces were estimated to be around 80000. without samurai and shinobi from other villages we can asume that five major villages sent aproximately 50000. Divided by 5 lets asume that konoha sent there around 10000 shinobi. without counting forces that were on guard duty. even if Konoha could gather only half of this force in time the uchiha were killed just by 2 men. and i seriously doubt that they had more than 300 and even that is overestimation be it othervise Itachi and Obito would be killing them for several days. So I would say that uchiha had no Chance . it would be another dscussion if they had someone like madara or support of the other clans but they had neither.

allow me to disagree on this. his choice was not kill your parents and there will be peace. Danzo just said that either Itachi kills the clan and then his Brother would be spared or Konoha kills the clan with no survivors
