Iirc, Izanagi went to Yomi to get her back, the condition was that he could not look Izanami until they left, and in the final stretch he looked and saw the mud and death that was all over Izanami, got scared and left her there, and she was trapped in Yomi. Kinda similar to Orpheus, except he looked at Eurydice at the end, but she still had a foot in the Underworld, so she was dragged back forever. (though apparently she was only an image because Orpheus didn't offer his life, instead of making the journey back to reunite with her)
"Yeah, that's not fair." I sighed, thinking about what she's been through. She wasn't lying about her 'sins' if the stories are anything to go by. But, at this moment, I don't see that hateful goddess portrayed in myths and legends, all I see is a lonely women who misses her family. "Should I call you Mother Izanami?" I smiled towards her. When the crew were crying because they had to leave Vivi behind in Alabasta, Zoro was the only one stoic so they started insulting him, with Luffy calling him Santoryu (Three Sword Style) and after being corrected by Usopp, he called him Yontoryu (Four Sword Style)
"Wavy-hair...? Well, could have been worse... Like Yontoryu..." Hector shrugs at the nickname.
