there is no culture or society if people start to get powers it would have been a different thing if he had been living in diff era and traversed to this era. but as a person who has seen people die his should be more clear about things like life and death. He could have been dead by now or maybe can die in future if he didn't have the demon. He's just complicating things up, do as you wish. Why does he have to care about what others think? Is he not hurting his own sister for his self belief and his own morals? If his sister is fine with it just accept her.
