There was more than one reason at play. Firstly, the person who had once kidnapped Emily was likely here, and he had to keep an eye on her, even though she did a decent job of staying out of trouble herself. Secondly, he needed to keep her in close proximity for when his thirst for her blood arose. Something Raylen said earlier about being honest when he said what he said to Layla and Nathaniel about soulmates. And now this piano playing.. Makes me wonder if he wish he also had a soulmate and the piano playing is because something is awakening in him with Emily around. Idk, it just felt heartfelt and lonely and sad and beautiful all at once
