Since a lot of people are using this comment as refrence for the size of the province i guess i should clarify a bit further this province is the size of Germany the Netherlands Puerto Rico. For the medieval ages that would be big. And for a mere province ruled by a duke its huge you could even say unrealisticly big. However considering this is a magical world i dont think its a problem at all.

One thing I realised Alexander is the owner of the IDS a company primarily (for now) making weapons but he is also the chief of the armed forces of Ruthenia basically the guy in charge of the whole Ruthenian millitary as the millitary is the primary buyer of IDS weapons it doesnt take a genius to notice the conflict of interest here considering Ruthenia has free speech now i wouldnt be surprised if he gets called out on it i mean you couldnt blame someone if he thought that maybe the millitary is overpaying for their weapons or worse. Something to keep an eye on. Or it could be that i am just overestimating the extent of Alexanders power over the millitary.

I can understand why the Francois republic would side with Ruthenia, they dont share any zones of influence and they dont share a border meanwhile they both share a common enemy (Britannia) tho in different areas of the world also for the Francois Ruthenia could also be a means to contain a new rising power ( the Germans) so for the Francois Ruthenia growing stronger is great news. As for the Germans that is more complicated they surely understand they are surrounded by Francois and Ruthenia however i think that they dont see the two as a real threat but rather as a means to fight Britannia and obtain more colonies. It makes their weaker potential enemy stronger but their strongest enemy weaker it might be a good deal. I hope we get a glimpse into what these 2 empires are planning and why are they siding with Ruthenia. And i hope its good reasons else this is just plot armour.
