Nephis gets more shards because she is Dreamer Rank and her Attribute. If she kills a dormant rank beast, she gets shard x2 because killing a creature with her fire counts for soul essence. Killing a Awakened Beast with her fire, gets her not 2 but 4 essence (shard# x soul grade x 2 due to the fire). Sunny won't catch up to her when it comes to hunting. He needs to find another way.

I just realized, since you gain more essence the lower your soul core purity (dormant), then it would be more efficient to saturate all 7 cores and then complete all the nightmares.
Collecting essence was fine, but becoming a Master would change the power dynamic between him and Nephis much more. And even though creating future cores would be harder after he achieved a higher Rank, being an Ascended also meant that there would be much fewer things out there that could squash him like a bug. - kito_71549mthReplied to DigestiveReader
