"Mi-chan? Are you okay?" Mayu asked. "I'm fine," Michi said back quickly. "Let's just eat." In the end, she decided to relent, not because she had given up, but because Michi believed her approach had failed. "I was too straightforward. That's why they can't see it my way. I need to work around the issue more and sway them bit by bit." It was a terrible way to think, especially in the case of interacting with friends, but to Michi, it didn't matter. But, they apparently were also blackmailing them afterwards." "Blackmail?" Michi repeated, shocked. "Yeah. They'd take pictures and get their contact info while they were doing it and then once they finished, either that night or the day after, the girls I called my friends would send them the pictures they took. What had driven her? What had made her think "She's not okay?" Why was it that out of everyone at that table, Michi was the one that got up? She hated Chiyo. She couldn't stand her. The gal's method of wearing her uniform was disgraceful to the entire school, if not the entire city of Iwanai. However, thinking that somehow felt not quite right. Going a little further into her memory, Kanako landed on the biggest moment of all that had taken place: Haruna's kiss on Kanako's cheek. It had caught Kanako completely off-guard and the action was something that had seemed very not-Haruna. If it had been Chiyo, Kanako would've probably only raised her eyebrows, but from Haruna, it was a complete blindside. "Why did she do that?" Kanako wondered, her mind growing ever-more hazy. For years, Kanako had wanted nothing more than to be friends again with Haruna. After so much fighting, and then thanks to Akio's intervening, they had managed to accomplish just that. Haruna meant a lot to Kanako. They were best friends growing up. Not having her around had hurt more than anything. And now she was back, and after recent events, Kanako felt like they were nearly at where they were before all of the fighting. Back to being close friends. - Skies_OfGold3yrCommented

All in all, it had felt like it had been a pretty successful day for Kanako. She had gotten to spend so much time with the boy she was in love with, and the whole time it had felt like her heart was going to explode with excitement. "Akio-kun was with me on my birthday," Kanako said aloud, letting out a giggle at the end. She had had birthday parties with Akio present in the past, but with them being older, it being just the two of them, and adding in Kanako's own feelings, the whole situation was much different from when they were children. - Skies_OfGold3yrCommented

The sun had nearly disappeared behind the horizon, giving way to the moon as it made its appearance known. Night had nearly arrived, and as it was on the doorstep, Haruna had a thought. "I just gave her a present and she loved it. The lighting... is still pretty good..." Her heart raced. "If I... told her my feelings now... would she...?"
